A morning of gratitude at the feet of the guru-paramparā

Gurupūrṇimā was celebrated with profound devotion and reverence at Arsha Vidya Mandir in Bhayli, Vadodara. More than 200 devotees gathered to offer their heartfelt gratitude to Pūjya Swami Dayānanda Saraswatī and the unbroken guru-paramparā. The sacred morning unfolded with Guru-pūjā, uplifting satsaṅga, and community sharing of prasāda. 🕉️ Spiritual Importance of Gurupūrṇimā Honoring Maharishi Veda Vyāsa (Vyāsa Pūrṇimā): Celebrated on the full-moon day (Pūrṇimā) of the Hindu lunar month of Āṣāḍha, this day marks the birth anniversary of Maharishi Veda Vyāsa. Sage Vyāsa is revered as the Ādi Guru (primal master) of the Vedic tradition for compiling the four Vedas, authoring the Brahma Sūtras and Mahābhārata, and compiling the 18 Purāṇas. The Etymology of Guru: In Sanskrit, Gu signifies the darkness of ignorance, while Ru signifies the dispeller. A Guru is thus the spiritual guide who dispels the darkness of self-ignorance and unfolds the light of self-realization. Expressing Gratitude & Rededication: Disciples perform Pādukā-pūjā (worship of the Guru's sandals representing the master's holy feet) to express gratitude for spiritual guidance and to rededicate themselves to living a life aligned with Vedāntic wisdom. 📿 The Guru-Paramparā of Arsha Vidya Mandir The Meaning of Ārṣa Vidyā: The Sanskrit word Ārṣa means "originating from the Rishis". The Arsha Vidya tradition preserves and transmits the authentic, traditional teaching methodology (sampradāya) of Advaita Vedānta as handed down by the ancient seers. The Lineage of Masters: The lineage traces directly through the traditional Guru-Śiṣya Paramparā: Śrī Ādi Śaṅkarācārya: The great philosopher-saint who wrote foundational commentaries (bhāṣyas) on the Upaniṣads, Bhagavad Gītā, and Brahma Sūtras. Pūjya Swami Dayānanda Saraswatī (1930–2015): A world-renowned master of Advaita Vedānta and founder of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulams. He was celebrated for unfolding profound Upanishadic vision with clarity, humor, and daily relevance. Core Vision of the Teaching: The central teaching of Advaita Vedānta is non-duality (Advaita)—that the individual self (jīva) and the universal reality (Brahman) are fundamentally one. Pūjya Swamiji summarized this ultimate truth in the liberating message: “You are whole, complete, and free.”
